Korea - Day #6 (May 4, 2011) - World Cup Stadium and Parks

After Yong San, we took the subway to go to World Cup Stadium and its surrounding parks.  I read from a tour book that all five parks in the World Cup Stadium complex were created on a 15 year old landfill that held over 92 milion tons of garbage.

One of the five parks I wanted to see was Haneul "Sky"Park which is at at the highest elevation. Once a mountain of garbage, it is now a green hill with 22 lookout points offering breathtaking views of Seoul "Soul," Mt. Namsan, Mt. Bukhansan, and Mt. Gwanaksan. 5 wind-powered generators provide power to the park and the park’s maintenance office.
